GROOVE DESIGN FOR STANDARD O-RINGS

The design guide on the following page is based upon SAE J120 and is for reference only. Included are the recommended gland dimensions for standard size elastomeric O-rings in automotive sealing applications. Gland dimensions assume a compound hardness of 70 durometer Shore A, and fluid pressure of 1500 psi max. Those sizes marked with an asterisk (*) are not generally used for dynamic seals, and are not normally recommended for such service. In those instances where use of these sizes in dynamic applications is desirable, a thorough engineering analysis and testing program is recommended.
